Historic preservationists and pioneers at heart, Jeff and Deane Pfeil love old buildings, old neighborhoods, adaptive re-uses, and sympathetic new construction. Based in Saratoga Springs for the past 13 years, they have made their mark there by developing several highly regarded new buildings that complement surrounding historic structures and by helping to save a magnificent High Victorian Gothic church in the central business district.

In 2005, the Pfeils turned their attention to beautiful, historic Troy (Deane’s hometown) and successfully created and sold 18 loft condominiums at Powers Park Lofts in the Lansingburgh neighborhood. As the first true factory loft condo project in the region, it was enthusiastically welcomed.

Then, the former Stanley’s Department Store, a vacant but handsome Beaux Arts building on the corner of Third and State Streets in Downtown Troy, caught their eye.  Demonstrating their continued confidence in this architecturally rich city, they purchased the building, re-named it and carefully restored it to last another century.
