Developers Have Vision for Upscale Capital District Apartments in Troy, NY

There are few US cities as architecturally significant as Troy NY. Historic preservationists and pioneers at heart, Jeff and Deane Pfeil love old buildings, old neighborhoods, adaptive re-uses, and sympathetic new construction. Based in Saratoga Springs for the past 15 years, they have made their mark there by developing several highly regarded new buildings that complement surrounding historic structures and by helping to save a magnificent High Victorian Gothic church in the central business district.

In 2005, the Pfeils saw the need for high-end apartments in the Albany, NY Capital District, and turned their attention to beautiful, historic Troy NY (Deane’s hometown). They successfully created and sold 18 loft condominiums at Powers Park Lofts in the Lansingburgh neighborhood. As the first true factory loft condo project in the region, it was enthusiastically welcomed.

Then, the former Stanley’s Department Store, a vacant but handsome Beaux Arts Building on the corner of Third and State Streets in Downtown Troy, caught their eye. Demonstrating their continued confidence in this architecturally rich city, they purchased the building, re-named it The Conservatory and carefully restored it to last another century, opening the handsome new Pfeil Hardware & Paint store in the first floor retail space and offering some of the finest apartments for rent in Troy and the Greater Albany Capital District.
