Discover the joy of Troy living! The City of Troy, NY is home to our Capital District apartments and is in a beautiful setting on the southern edge of the Adirondack mountains, bounded in the West by the Hudson River and the Mohawk Valley. In the East are the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts and to the south is the Hudson Valley. This central location has given Troy a long history of being the hub of transportation in New York State. Troy is the head of navigation of the Hudson River from New York City and is the ending point of the Erie Canal from Buffalo. It is also part of the Champlain Canal system to Burlington VT. This ease of transport not only from river traffic but also by way of major highways, nearby Albany International Airport, and excellent railroad connections, has made Troy NY the center of traditions that continue today.
Throughout much of the 19th century and into the 20th century Troy, NY was extremely prosperous, by far overshadowing neighboring Albany, the state capital. It was a center of the iron industry and also the home of the "collar and cuff" trade, central to a large textile industry. Commerce and Retail in Troy were quite active with Frear's Department store one of the largest in the state and attracting people from far and wide.
Along the Hudson River are mostly commercial and warehouse space buildings. Further from the River are historic brownstones and mansions for a business and residential mix. The downtown area maintains a wide mix of residential, commercial, retail shops, fine restaurants and entertainment all within manageable walking distances.

Troy NY retains its Victorian look with numerous examples of Victorian architecture and iron work. There are also many Tiffany stained-glass windows in their original architectural settings. This has brought several Hollywood film producers to the area for location filming in a 19 th century urban setting. Flight to the suburbs in the 1970's left Troy somewhat blighted, as was the case with many American cities, and a number of buildings are in disrepair, however more and more citizens, community groups and investors are involved and active in restoration projects, all of which add to the charm of Troy living in our elegant Capital District apartments.
One of the most successful projects has been the "Antiques District" located on River Street. The Annual Victorian Stroll is one of the most popular events in Troy. Now in it's 22nd year it attracts over 15,000 visitors from across the Northeast and is organized by the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce. Troy is also home to the Music Hall and NYS Theatre Institute. Many other cultural and gastronomic pleasures abound in the area.
Due to continued financial backing and investment by New York State in the downtown areas, the City of Troy is enjoying a new revitalization. The Conservatory offers a new standard in Capital District apartments in the Troy NY area.
